Winner of the 1994 Tony Award for Best Musical

No less than the wondrously complex landscape of the human heart is the subject of this haunting, intensely emotional musical by the uncompromising creators of “Sunday In The Park With George” and “Into The Woods.”

A remote military outpost in 1863 Italy, a handsome army captain, separated from his beautiful – but married – mistress, is forced to re-evaluate his beliefs about love when he becomes the object of the obsessive, unrelenting passions of Fosca, his Colonel’s plain, sickly cousin.

Parents: Contains mature subject matter and themes. Not appropriate for young audience members.

Produced by Nanette Reynolds (Shining City, Doubt, The Iceman Cometh, Blood Brothers, The Weir, Art)
Directed by Gloria DuGan (Doubt, Blood Brothers, Art, The Runner Stumbles, All the King’s Men)
Music Direction by Elisa Rosman (Falsettos, Side Show, Suburb)

Production Dates: July 31 - August 22, 2009
Auditions: May 4 & 5, 2009

CHANGE OF SEASON NOTICE: (Feb. 26, 2009) Production rights for Michel Legrand's Amour could not be acquired due to publishing problems identified by the agent to Mr. Legrand.  Amour was announced for the 2008-2009 season as the summer musical, but was changed to Passion in February 2009 after 14 months of trying to acquire rights through various resources and contacts.

Produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.

ESP Productions are partially supported by grants from the The Town of Herndon, The Nelson and Katherine Post Foundation, the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
